Evaluation of heart murmurs in children and adults
Heart murmurs in children and adults require assessment, even in the absence of any symptoms. This is indicated mainly to clarify, if the murmur is a benign one, a so-called functional murmur, or related to an underlying serious congenital or acquired heart problem. Usually, this can be almost always achieved by an ultrasound study of the heart (echocardiogram).
