24-Hour-EKG (Holter EKG), Event Recorder

The Holter EKG records every beat of your heart within a period of 24 or 48 hours. For that, we supply you with a tiny digital EKG recorder, which you carry with you, attached to a belt, usually for 24 hours. Through electrodes, which are attached to your chest, every electrical impulse of your heart will be recorded.

During the recording time, you will have to document all symptoms and activities on a chart. This may help us to identify possible connections between your symptoms and existing cardiac arrhythmias.

Based on that, we can identify causes of symptoms, such as palpitation, dizziness, fainting or assess treatment progress of cardiac arrhythmias.

Occasionally, we may recommend, in less commonly occurring symptoms of arrhythmias, an "event recorder". It is a small recorder that we supply the patient with, over several weeks. When symptoms occur, the patient presses the event recorder against his/her chest to record the EKG in this very moment. This helps us identifying the type of arrhythmia responsible for the symptoms and initiating suitable treatment.
